COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Junior Jared Bernhardt tallied the 100th point of his career, scoring a team-high four goals and adding an assist on the day, leading the No. 3 Maryland men’s lacrosse team to an 11-6 victory over No. 16 Colgate on a cold Tuesday evening at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium.
Maryland earned its fourth straight win and its first against a ranked opponent this season, as the Terps led the Raiders wire-to-wire for the five-goal victory.
The Terps got off to a hot start, tying their season-high with four first quarter goals to end the first quarter up 4-0. Louis Dubick scored on a flashy behind-the-back shot with just 14 seconds left in the quarter, and just 13 seconds later, Bernhardt fought off a triple-team and scored as time expired.
Maryland ended the half with nine goals, its most in a half all season, while Colgate tallied three.
Austin Henningsen took every draw at the faceoff X for Maryland, going 14-20 while winning every draw in the first and third quarters.
Colgate would manage three goals in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to four, but Will Snider put the nail in the coffin as Maryland secured its second win in four days.
Bernhart (4 G, 2 A) and Logan Wisnauskas (3 G, 2 A) notched hat tricks in the victory while Dubick, Fairman, Snider and Zawadski also tacked on a goal apiece.
Senior goalkeeper Danny Dolan made nine saves on the day and collected two ground balls.
Maryland returns to action Saturday in Annapolis to play Navy at noon.
