OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Ravens placed their leading tackler on injured reserve two days ahead of their season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Third-year inside linebacker Zach Orr had missed practices all week with a neck injury and was officially declared out on Friday afternoon. The former undrafted free agent from North Texas enjoyed a breakout season in 2016, leading the defense with 132 tackles.
Orr also intercepted three passes, forced a fumble, and broke up five passes in his first season as a starter.
The Ravens used Orr’s spot on the 53-man roster for wide receiver Vince Mayle, who was claimed off waivers from Dallas. The 25-year-old had appeared in six games for the Cowboys in 2016 — primarily on special teams — and had bounced back and forth between the Dallas active roster and practice squad since last season.
A 2015 fourth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, the 6-foot-2, 228-pound receiver attended Washington State and led the Pac-12 Conference in both receptions (106) and receiving yards (1,483) for the 2014 season.
