COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Former Maryland forward Justin Jackson was selected in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft Thursday evening by the Denver Nuggets. Jackson was drafted 43rd overall by the Nuggets to become the 59th all-time draft choice in program history.

Jackson was subsequently traded to the Orlando Magic. He is the fifth player to be selected in the NBA Draft at Maryland under Head Coach Mark Turgeon, and joins teammate Kevin Huerter, who was picked in the first round (19th overall) by the Atlanta Hawks.

“This is a great opportunity for Justin, and I know this is a dream come true for him,” said Turgeon. “I’m really happy for Justin. He had to deal with a season-ending injury this year, and now that he is beginning to get healthy, he has a chance to showcase his talents.”

Jackson spent two seasons with Maryland, averaging 10.3 points and 6.5 rebounds in 44 career games with 40 starts. Jackson had an outstanding freshman campaign where he led the Terps in three-point shooting (.438) and rebounding (6.0) while finishing second on the team in scoring (10.5).

The Toronto, Ontario native helped Maryland to its best start in school history in 2016-17, pacing Maryland to a 20-2 record to open the season and an appearance in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. He was tabbed a preseason All-Big Ten selection and Naismith Trophy Watch List candidate entering his sophomore campaign, but his season was cut short abruptly, when he suffered a torn labrum. Prior to undergoing season-ending surgery, he only saw action in 11 games but still averaged 9.8 points with a team-best 8.1 rebounds.

Below is a list of Maryland all-time draft selections.
