UMBC continues road trip Saturday at Lehigh

UMBC continues its four-game road swing at Lehigh on Saturday, Dec. 6. It will be the first meeting between the Retrievers and Mountain Hawks since the 1997-98 campaign. The Retrievers will not return home until Dec. 30 when they complete a home-and-home series with Navy. Tip-off time is set for 2:00 p.m.

RETRIEVERUPDATE:  Today’s game will cap a busy week for UMBC, as the Retrievers defeated visiting UMES, 64-59, on Monday, then traveled to Pittsburgh on Tuesday and fell at Duquesne, 94-88, on Wednesday evening. After one day in Baltimore, UMBC completes the week by heading back to Pennsylvania to face Lehigh. The offense has been a bright spot for UMBC (3-6) this week, as they have hit 46-of-82 shots (56.1%) from the floor over the last three halves of basketball. SR F Chase Plummer exploded for 27 points at Duquesne, while FR G Rodney Elliott scored in double figures in both games and leads UMBC at 13.6 points per game.

HAWK UPDATE: Lehigh took an early lead and made the plays in the end to pull out a 57-50 win at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday evening. It marked Lehigh’s first road win of the season as the Mountain Hawks won their second straight game and third in their last four. FR F Tim Kempton led the way with 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for his first-career double-double. SR G Mackey McKnight leads LU with 15.3 points per game.

WHO’S UP NEXT:  UMBC plays one more game before final exams as they make the short trip to take on Coppin State on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
